IMAM Organisation UK has organized an event of Peace Walk, in which Burnley community come together to honor victims and stand defiant against terrorism
Numbers of people came together in Burnley to honor those killed in the Manchester Arena attacks and to demonstrate against extremism. Event organized by Muslim charity the IMAM Organisation UK, people walked from Burnley Fire Station in Belvedere Road to the Peace Gardens in the town center on Saturday 03 June 2017, Dozens of children held placards and posters as they listened to community leaders speak of their shock and the need to come together.
A minute’s silence was also held and participants laid flowers in front of the memorial.
Musawar Hussain, one of the organizers of the event, said there has been a lot of hurt and grief after the attack. He said: “As a Muslim community we can’t remain silent. We have to express this grief, this hurt and this pain that we are feeling. “We can’t just contain it at home. We need to come out and show solidarity and send a message to the families of those who lost their loved ones that we are with them.”
